Preparing The Night Before

It’s natural to think the day starts when we turn off the alarm and get out of bed. However, with deadlines and expectations around every corner, that way of thinking doesn’t apply to success. For many successful people, a new day starts the night before!

No, I’m not trying to reinvent the calendar. Instead, I want you to start planning ahead before bedtime. See how many of these little tweaks you can make to your nightly routine. (Spoiler alert: you can easily do all of them!)

Get your clothes and work gear ready. Since you already know what the weather will be like, coordinate your clothes and have them ready to put on. Packing what you need to bring to work can also save extra time in the morning.

Glance at tomorrow’s schedule. No, I am not asking you to respond to dozens of emails. Taking a moment to re-familiarize yourself with upcoming appointments and events will ensure you are mentally prepared.

Get the coffee ready! No explanation needed!

Go to bed at a reasonable hour. I’ve said it before: a good night’s sleep is very important. If you aren’t tired, avoid television and the computer and try reading until you feel drowsy.

These are just some of the many things you can do to prepare for a new workday. The more time you give yourself to visualize your next work day, the less stress you’ll feel when the heat is turned up!
